Getting to know Jenna

So by now, you all know I have a new partner in Hooray, my baby sister Jenna.

Jenna came on board before the “big divorce” and was helping out on the back end of the shop. She was in charge of packaging products and shipping to our customers along side being a full time grade one teacher.

Read on to find out more about Jen…

Jenna’s last day of teaching | Bridal dreams started young!

Hooray: Tell us a bit more about yourself
Jen: Hi, my name is Jen. I am 28 years old, married to the love of my life, Louis, and the baby of my family (I am still “ma vas” delux!) When I am not working, you can probably find me enjoying a good book or glued to the TV with my latest series obsession (currently re-watching Game of Thrones, preparing for the last season – gulp!) I love having a scroll through Instagram or Facebook and I am a Disney fanatic of note! I absolutely love a good dance – music always speaks to my soul and I am that girl that says “Oh my gosh, I love this song” – to every. song. out. there.

Family

Hooray: What did you do before you joined Hooray?
Jen: I was a teacher. I was teaching alongside my mom in Grade 1 and was so lucky to have her as my mentor and personal therapist whenever I was having a bad day. Teachers have to be super organised, prepared and flexible, and I feel my 10 years in the teaching profession has really honed my admin skills and my ability to plan things which will assist me in the position I am in now.

Hooray: What made you want to get involved with Hooray Weddings?
Jen: I have always been a romantic at heart – I believed I was going to marry a prince and live in a castle from the tender age of 4. I love the thought of “happily ever after” and the celebration of two becoming one. In a way, I have always thought I would be involved in the wedding industry in some way or another. When Christy approached me to start helping out with Hooray, it was like God was closing one door to open up another, everything fell into place as it should be and I have never been happier.

Hooray: Was it a difficult transition from teaching to working with Hooray?
Jen: It was a very difficult decision to make, but God was definitely guiding me to where I need to be. There are days that I miss working with the kids terribly but I love being my own boss, working out my own hours and the fact that I can sit at the local coffee shop, enjoying a cuppacino while I get things done!

Hooray: If you could have your wedding day over again what, if anything, would you have done differently and why?
Jen: I loved my wedding day (and still do!) – it holds such fond memories for me and it amazes me how a spray of my wedding perfume, or hearing my first song on the radio takes me right back to my magical day. And hello, I got to be a princess for a day – all my Disney dreams come true! I really cannot think of anything I would change, I am going to sound so cliché here – but it was all just perfect!

Hooray: Tell us about being a bridesmaid?
Jen: I absolutely LOVE being a bridesmaid. I possibly discovered I had a big love for the wedding industry, when I was a bridesmaid for the first time at Christy’s wedding all the way back in 2009 (10 year wedding anniversary coming up, say whaaaat!?) It really is such an honour to stand next to your nearest and dearest as they say their I do’s. I hope the bride’s I have stood next to have enjoyed my assistance with getting things in order and my OCD’ness. I love helping out with setting up appointments, getting quotes from service providers or whatever else they needed help with – I am also quite good at dishing out rescue tablets on the day to anyone who needs it!

Jen cut her foot open three weeks before the wedding, thus, had crutches at the Bachelorette!

Hooray: What do you and hubby enjoy getting up to?
Jen: Louis and I love travelling and try to do a trip at least once a year – this year we have a trip to South America planned as well as a trip around South Africa with a friend from Aussie, who we met on a Contiki trip in 2018.
Louis is Afrikaans so watching the rugby with a braai on the go on the weekends is a staple in our relationship (I might of lured him in at the beginning by pretending to love rugby more than I actually do, whoops!)
Spending time with family and friends is big for us and we love babysitting our nephews and nieces.
To be honest, at the end of the day, if I had to choose between a night out on the town or staying in with my hubby – staying in would win hands down! What makes my heart happiest is being curled up on the couch with a glass of wine and one of Louis’ famous dishes (I married a keeper – he can cook!) I am quite selfish of our time together.

Hooray: What has been the most challenging thing about joining Hooray?
Jen: Honestly, I am still trying to find my feet in this wedding industry world. At the Hooray Industry Party, I felt like Emily from “A Devil Wears Prada”, quickly going through, in my head, faces and names of people that I have sent copious amounts of emails too and spent enough time on their websites and Instagram pages… I felt like I knew them but had to keep the stalker vibes at bay.

Hooray: What is your role within Hooray Weddings?
Jen: I am the Admin Guru. I handle all client relations, social media schedules, emails and the back end of the website –  loading products, blog posts, etc. I am also the shop administrator so I package and ship out all products sold (although I often get Christy to write out the cards, I am still trying to ditch my teacher writing for super cool swervy writing that every wedding industry professional seems to have).

Hooray: Describe yourself using a Disney song title.
Jen: Well this is the hardest question of all time! I am a lover of ALL things Disney (A Disney expert according to one or two Disney quizzes on Buzzfeed!) If you HAD to make me choose I would have to say … oh gosh, no, I just can’t decide!

Quick Question Round

Vodka or gin?
Jen: GIN

Cake or ice cream?
Jen: Ice Cream all day, errday! Magnum’s Death by chocolate is my WEAKNESS!

Local or Overseas Travel?
Jen: Both! I absolutely LOVE travelling, the travel bug bit HARD after my first time overseas, which was to Thailand for my honeymoon!

Samsung or Iphone?
Jen: Currently iPhone, but I won’t lie the Samsung S10 is definitely catching my eye!

Three most used apps on your phone?
Jen: Instagram, Whatsapp and Facebook (apparently I am that dude from GOT – I have little birds everywhere and I gotta keep up with their secrets)

Early bird or Night Owl?
Jen: You know what they say, the early bird catches the worm! Don’t ask me to start a movie at 8:30, yeah that’s gonna be a no from me!
