The lovely Luci from Luxe Events is sharing a bit more with us today about her life, running Luxe Events and taking on the wedding world one stunning wedding at a time!

When she is not applying her “Oh-so Luxe” touch to a special event, directing a creative shoot or shooting off confetti cannons, you will find her travelling the globe with her best friend and husband Grant, and son Rhys. Combined with dirt bike adventures, baking divine cheesecakes and planning her next family holiday, Luci’s desire is to express to those around that they are Loved Forever.

If you would love to know more about this lovely lady, then read on.

Hey! Please can you introduce yourself and your company to the Hooray readers…
Luci: My name is Lucinda Delaney and I am the founder and creative director of Luxe Events. Luxe Events has created events and weddings all over South Africa and internationally in places like Bali and Mauritius. The events we have created range from the ostentatious, to the intimate with style and no pretence. Each event has that Luxe “X” factor and we consistently go above and beyond.

Hooray: How did you get into the wedding industry?
Luci: With years of seasoned experience in both the creative and corporate event planning space, my passion for creating opulent events lead me to open Luxe Events. Luxe Events has planned, designed, created and delivered events worldwide.

Hooray: What inspires you?
Luci: My inspiration comes from travel, interior design, nature, food and lifestyle bloggers.

Hooray: Running your own business can be hard, do you have a daily routine?
Luci: My daily routine consists of a good work out, skincare routine, a delicious MUG of tea or coffee, Trello Boards and my super organised planner form Alexa Lilly.

Hooray: Tell us about your ideal wedding client.
Luci: My ideal wedding client is someone who loves to be creative, organised and unique. Who loves to push the creative boundary from pretty to opulent and who is vision-driven.

Hooray: What do you love most about your job?
Luci: Oooh there are so many reasons I love my job! But my top favs are definitely seeing the bridal couple’s reaction when months of planning and designing have been created. Emotions are overflowing with happy tears, love, joy, excitement and fulfilment. What I love about my job as well (my other fav) is how the wedding industry suppliers/vendors work together. There is always unity & support with the wedding suppliers. Maybe I am bias LOL but with my experience in both the corporate and creative industry, it really fills my cup how vendors go above and beyond to make sure that your one special day memories last forever.

Hooray: Can you describe your style?
Luci: Bold, Edgy, On Trend and bringing through the “X” factor in every created wedding & event.

Hooray: If you had to get married (again) what would be the ONE non-negotiable?
Luci: Always my ONE – NON Negotiable RULE! (To brides as well) Hire a professional wedding photographer! It’s as essential as saying your vows! To capture the memories of your dreams and visions.

Hooray: Where do you see yourself and your company this time next year?
Luci: Offering more services and a bigger team (coming soon – eek can’t wait)

Hooray: If you could be anything else in the wedding industry, what would you be and why?
Luci: Mmh tough one as I feel I have the best of all worlds being a planner and stylist. But to answer I would say a photographer or videographer.

Hooray: Tell us about your most embarrassing moment on the job.
Luci: There are too many to count. But definitely pageboy moments. The pageboy dropping the wedding ring (on many occasions and without fail) into the ocean, sand, down steep banks and over verandas. The Luxe Team is always to the rescue going into water or bushes to find the ring and walking back to the ceremony looking like we have been dragged through the bushes (literally) or soaking wet. Hair all over the place but making sure the exchanging of vows are sealed. Definitely an embarrassing yet mic drop moment.

Hooray: Do you have any friends in the industry? Tell us who and how they impact you in this beautiful business.
Luci: Many Many friends in the industry. From creative inspiration, motivation and always pushing each other to go to the next level. Jane Wolff, Dale McCarthy, Lindy Fourie, Kate Bain, Joelene Botha, Carolyn Hall, Misha Tame, Dawn Oosthuis, Debbie Montague, Jackie Davidson, Alexis Yapp, Rowena Arnold, Tegan Bogle, Maxine Gibbon, Mandy Kock, Kimberley Lomas, Wendy-Leigh Cousins, HOORAY GIRLS and so many more!!

Hooray: 2020 was a hard year for all, what do you think the wedding industry can learn from this?
Luci: Biggest lesson I have learnt in 2020 is to have patience & faith and plans in place. Even planning for Plan B & C helps you have more peace in unpredictable times.

Hooray: If you could go back in time to when you first started out in the wedding industry, and tell yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
Luci: You are more than capable and believe in yourself. (Cheesy but true)

Hooray: What is your favourite way to unwind after a wedding?
Luci: Definitely snuggles with my boy and quality family time! Home movies, good food, foot spa and a warm cup of tea!

Hooray: Tell us about the last time you were really, really proud of yourself.
Luci: I think at the moment (during pandemic times) I am really proud of not having any wedding cancellations. That we are keeping up with all the changes for all our weddings and making sure that all brides are still excited for their special day. Making sure our couples haven’t lost interest and focus on the true meaning of marriage is a highlight for us. This may be something small, but it is really big in the wedding planning world. We have also, in the last couple of lockdowns, been working on elevating our creativity –  watch this space.

Hooray: Lastly, what is your favourite part of the wedding day or wedding planning process.
Luci: Again so many favourites (so passionate about weddings). We love creating your personalised Trello Board to see you at the heart of the planning process and allowing you to be in the centre of it. Watching you get excited during your wedding planning journey fulls our cups.  Our ultimate heartfelt moment is creating your wedding inspiration concept board and styling your special day, making sure all your dreams come true.
