June Wrap Up 2020

Yes, this is a reminder that yet another month has come and gone.

June was a particularly hard month for some.
The tension that is building up around the world seems to be coming to a boiling point, and while it might make some of us uncomfortable, we must be reminded that nothing ever grows in a comfort zone.

We need to keep learning, growing, and moving forward, but most importantly, we need to all remember to be kind.

As we sit inside, waiting for things to go back to “normal”, we realise that wedding news has dwindled a little bit, but we were still able to put together some real goodies for you!

  1. Pride Month
In case you didn’t know, June is Pride Month.“Every year, during the month of June, the LGBT community celebrates in a number of different ways. Across the globe, various events are held during this special month as a way of recognizing the influence LGBT people have had around the world. Why was June chosen? Because it is when the Stonewall Riots took place, way back in 1969.” (Taken from Awareness Days)

Of course, this means that we were treated to the most beautiful weddings, engagements, and love stories for the whole month, so we chose a few pictures to share with you:

LHS: Baylee Dennis | RHS: Gold and Grit
  2. BLM Wedding
Guys, we have no words for the impact that this wedding had on not only the American community but worldwide. These powerful images were captured and I get lost for words whenever I look at them.
After Kerry and Michael’s wedding was canceled, they had a small ceremony in Philadelphia and ended up joining the BLM protestors and marching in solidarity. Their pictures quickly went viral and made such a moving statement!
These images were captured by Linda McQueen Photography.
  3. Black lives matter engagement
During the BLM protests and marching, some really special moments were captured… like this engagement!
A photographer from 4C Visuals Group was documenting the protests when he was able to capture this historic moment – definitely a story to tell the grandkids one day!
  4. OHD Everlast
Oh, but we have been swooning over these babies since the first time we laid our eyes on them!
With the current situation in South Africa, weddings seem to be on the backburner for the rest of the year, with most brides choosing to rather wait for next year when things have hopefully calmed down.
In saying this, the OHD team has had a bit of extra time on their creative hands and just LOOK at what they have made. We cannot wait to get our hands on one of these babies! Click here if you would like to order one for your home. Photography by Roxanne Davis.
  5. Durban Intimate Celebration
This intimate celebration is actual GOALS! Christy really captured the magic of this day and the bride’s sparkly romper, made by Madelain Clark, caused such a stir in the social media world.
After an intimate court ceremony, Christy took Cassel and Wayde around Durban for a post-wedding ceremony photoshoot… and the photos below are evidence that I am not being biased 😉
Hair: Studio Sass, Makeup: Laura & Co., Romper: Madelain Clark, Photography: Christy Hosking
  6. COVID can’t stop their love
Planned to get married in 2020, but instead, they stood at the COVID frontline, battling the pandemic. Our hearts go out to all those that had to postpone their weddings, but it is moments like these that really make us emotional AF!
Thank you to ALL medical workers that are working hard to ensure that we are safe, we are all so grateful!
  7. Will you Marry Me?
We saw this uber cute engagement over on The Knot’s Instagram page and we thought it was the perfect ending to our June Wrap Up. Lee popped the question to Emily this past weekend and those marquee lights in the park are just the cutest!

And that’s a wrap for June!

If you have anything coming up in July that you would love to share or you think may inspire other brides, be sure to hit us up at info@hoorayweddings.com
