Let’s just remix Shakespeare here and say the theme of this amazing styled shoot could be:
“Can I compare thee to a winter’s day”

A South African winter is like no other. Although we can get bitterly cold days, I do have to say that I think we could boast at saying we have one of the best winter seasons in the whole world!

As days start to get cooler, the South African landscape changes and the team behind this styled shoot captured our unique winter landscape beautifully!

Amanda from Kadou shared a bit more about the shoot with us today… so get ready to be blown away!

“Our inspiration for this shoot was inspired by the South African winter season, the dark corners of the venue, and the photographer’s interaction with light.
If you know me (or even just follow me on Instagram) you will know my love affair with anything dried (basically, a dead tree makes my heart skip a beat). The hanging installation was built only with foraged, dried elements. Dried fern, oak branches, slangbos, hydrangea and mustard berries were used to create an airy cloud of interesting textures.”
– Amanda, Kadou

“Our tablescape base was the mix of the natural wood of the table and the softer, moodier, dark charcoal tablecloth. Black and grey plates served as soft layers and perfectly framed the natural coloured stationary. The flowers added softness to the tablescape. Butter yellow and blush garden roses, whimsy ranunculus, and fragrant jasmine made up the bulk of the flowers and were used in both the bridal bouquet and the table flowers. Natural coloured candles with a frosted finish added more colour and softness against the concrete wall. Final touches included grey and stone-coloured linen napkins and black schoolroom style chairs.”
– Amanda, Kadou

We love the unique dresses used for this shoot, especially the geometric patterns that remind us of Ndebele pattern huts. South African culture is so unique, and we love how these dresses represent this beautifully, those patterns are everything!

The stunning gowns were inspired by our beautiful country: celebrating our history, heritage, and freedom.
– Amanda, Kadou

The stationery ‘Oh Yay’ created for this shoot gives us boho vibes with a side of celestial. We love how the design is not OTT, proving that simplicity is sometimes key to making a statement! We are suckers for calligraphy writing and are absolutely swooning over this amazing penmanship. The natural colours work so beautifully together, and tie in with the rest of the theme effortlessly.

It is no secret that Christy and I have magpie eyes, so we were going gaga over the jewellery used in this shoot. I mean just look at these beauties! We know that most brides choose not to wear other rings on their wedding day, but the”non-traditional” bride might want to shake things up a bit, by adding a couple of these to her bridal look.

Mixed metal jewellery was used to add a finishing touch to this alternative bridal look.
– Amanda, Kadou.

Amanda, thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to feature this styled shoot today.
We so love the work done and we are sure the team is proud of what they accomplished.
