If you are looking for pretty, then the Bash girls, Liesel & Gitta are the ones to call.
I gushed about them in their 2019 Stationery Trends post and honestly, I could gush about them till the cows come home. There is a reason why these girls are in such high demand not only in the wedding world of brides and grooms, but for awesome bad ass bosses and brands too!
They are genuine, honest to good, salt of the earth kinda gals and everything that they put their fingers to turns to gold. Stationery Goddesses, I am in awe every time I get to see what they have created and how they bring their clients visions to life.
Im not going to take up any more reading space, Lee & Gits, over to you girls!

Hi, everyone we’re Liesel and Gitta and we run The Bash Design Studio – a design studio for brands and brides. We are romantics at heart, and creating custom design for your big day is one of our favourite things. We are sisters, wives and moms! We are a passionate about people. We run on coffee and baked goods most days and every now and then you can find us running a 10k for fun – and to get a bit of peace and quiet from our chaotic lives.
We love to hear your story, and thread this through every element of your wedding stationery. We love contemporary design, carefully crafted typography, beautiful paper and luxe printing.

Hooray: How did you get into the wedding industry?
G + L: When Gitta got married in 2010, we worked together on all the stationery details and loved the joy of creating together. We decided to start a design studio together as a side hustle. We were both working design jobs – Liesel as a freelance creative director while raising her first baba and Gitta as a designer for a local fashion studio – but knew that we wanted to eventually leave the corporate world and see where it would lead us… Here we are, 8 years later with a love for weddings and businesses that grows with each project that we work on.
Hooray: Can you describe your style?
G + L: We love clean, contemporary design. We love to combine paper textures and luxe print techniques. We believe that less is more so you won’t see a lot of trims on our invitations or wedding day stationery.

Hooray: What inspires you?
G + L: As kids we spent a lot of time travelling around South Africa with our folks and they taught us to look out the window and watch the world. We love finding inspiration in people we meet, in the colours and texture of everyday things, paging through books and magazines, and we’re always up for an Instagram scroll session to get the creative juices flowing.
We love following stationers who use old school print techniques like Swell Press and Bespoke Press. And we’re always inspired by our local wedding friends who create the most spectacular weddings – most of our favs are listed on the Hooray directory!!

Hooray: Running your own business can be hard, do you have a daily routine?
G + L: We don’t have a set routine but most of our days start with coffee and a strat session to get focused for the day. The first 2 hours of the day is dedicated to emails and admin. We like to deliver wedding stationery to our brides on the Wednesday before their wedding so Mondays and Tuesdays usually involve a trip to the printers to check that everything is on track for the weekend’s weddings.

Hooray: Tell us about your ideal wedding client
G + L: We love couples who have a clear vision for what they want their stationery to look like but who are looking for something unique to them. We love working with people who understand the joy of opening a posted letter and love the sentiment of a hand written note. We know that uniquely crafted stationery isn’t on the top of everyone’s “must have” list for their wedding day so our hearts sing when our couples are as excited about textures, old school print techniques and clean design as we are.
Hooray: What do you love most about your job?
G + L: We love that no two weddings are the same. We love that we get to be a part of the start of your life together in a small way. There is always an excitement for us when we collect fresh prints and get to see the designs on our screens come to life so beautifully.

Hooray: If there was one thing you could change about the wedding industry, what would it be?
G + L: The pressure to have a textbook wedding. Weddings come with a lot of expectations. We say if you want to get married in a field at sunrise with 10 guests then that’s what you should do or have the show stopper day you’ve always dreamt about. Just remember to make it about the two of you at the start of your lives together.
Hooray: Name 5 of your favourite wedding vendors that you enjoy working with.
G + L: Oh Happy Day, Adore Weddings, Renegade Kitchen, Natural Nostalgia, The Venue Fontana.
Thank you so much for sharing with us today Liesel and Gitta … and we have to agree, Disney is LIFE!!
